It struck a chord with me and I now own every Louis L'Amour book written. The Sackett series is wonderful, but my favorite is still Tucker. In my profession as a juvenile probation officer, I give a copy to some of my clients who are struggling with making the right decisions. I owe this to a very kind lady, who saw the potential in me and took the time to foster it. I've been chairman of the Torrevieja Writers' Circle for about 3 years. Listening to criticism of work guides not only that writer but the others as well. Talks help and provide that added jolt of enthusiasm. Nobody is forced to write on any subject, but we do have set themes to help any blocked moments. You are in for such a treat. My recommendation would be to look out for the Sackett series of novels e.g. Galloway, The Skyliners, Ride the River (the only female Sackett). There are so many to choose from, I'm sure you'll be inundated with recommendations. Also, I'm on the TT Flynn trail at the moment - he's as good as LL IMHO. There's a review of Two Faces West on my blog and a link to a review for Gunsmoke by Steve M at Western Fiction Review. There's an old review of To Tame a Land by LL at my blog as well. Happy reading. I'm very excited for you. :-)Jo Walpolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13972318968316588965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225431618705268926.post-37694720283547837922009-09-27T09:59:24.924-07:002009-09-27T09:59:24.924-07:00Well Lee get on with the wild west monday campaign...Well Lee get on with the wild west monday campaignGary Dobbs/Jack Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10935686140719743351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225431618705268926.post-27834098053862148972009-09-21T09:27:10.404-07:002009-09-21T09:27:10.404-07:00A very valid point, Lee. Some camels of that Texas unit were used to build a road from Arizona to California being under the control of Hi Jolly who is buried at Quartzite AZ. Of course, they didn't have a single one on their shelves, so I asked about it. The attendee says the problem is that people hold on to them, don't want to let them go. Even the Salvation Army store didn't have any that day, but Barnes and Noble had a limited few in stock from popular authors only, the big sellers, and reprints of Max Brand and L'Amour.
